A bit about Kristin: Kristin Fouquet, a New Orleans native and anachronism, is a fine art photographer and writer. From early childhood, she instinctively knew that she lived in a very special place. New Orleans is architecturally beautiful and historically mysterious, holding many secrets, but, it is her people that give her life.

"With the pageantry of the parades, Mardi Gras is a marvelous and colorful spectacle, but often the spectators themselves are just as fascinating, if not more so. For me, this crescendos on Fat Tuesday in the French Quarter, where marching krewes and masqueraders of all varieties blur that line until it ceases to exist."

"As a photographer, my personal instinct is black and white, but on Mardi Gras, the colors must have their day. My antiqued portraits of Mardi Gras 2009 display slightly subdued hues, but add the depth and timeless quality of tinted postcards. I hope you enjoy my interpretation."
