A bit about David: David Arthur-Simons is a New York painter who holds a Masters Degree in visual arts from the Sydney College of the Arts in Sydney Australia where he grew up. He moved to Chelsea in New York in 1995.

David’s paintings are visual manifestations of Western and Eastern philosophy, personal and universal mythology, dreams, psychological self explorations and visions of realms beyond the visible and tangible. David is influenced by Rene Magritte, Proust, Nietzsche and the music of Marc Bolan and Roxy Music.

For the last 4 ½ years David has been working on a series of 365 paintings (one for each day of the year) that explore the spiritual dimensions of life. Though there are "earthly" elements in his paintings they are never presented in an earthly context. The landscapes David paints are ideal places of peace, harmony and symmetry where people fly, leap and glide through the air and from one dimension to another constantly defying the accepted illusions of life.

Each day David works on one of the 365 paintings completing as much as possible in one day. He then returns to the same painting the following year on the same day adding and subtracting elements till the painting is "finished". He expects to finish the series in 3-4 years.
