cracks in the concrete

you're not ready
for the taking,
eyes run over
your body like
skateboards in
skate parks,
so smooth on the ride.
chances are
you don't see it
like i do,
chances are
you don't feel the
same way.
tight like cobra
snakes wrapped
around the heart…
addictive agents
on the prowl,
the beasts of
distance are
looming on the
runway.
invade my forest
with your
chainsaw,
strip my guts away.
burn me down,
but not my love.

love in Hollywood

no wonder they
call this Hollywood,
no doubt you're
all the same.
white thunder,
silence of the
telephone.
i think she wanted
me, i think i
blew it all
with lines of
furious frustration;
and don't
the nights of
pavement, stars
of concrete,
burn of liquid
kill it all away…
from top down
she warns of
danger - until
she's close enough
to stay.
these grasping
fingers grope
dirty air and
smoggy space.
when fever hits
it's time to starve.
you know why it
must be this way.
there's little
more to it than
jump rope in a
schoolyard: you
miss a beat and
your turn is over,
rope is tangled,
trip to the ground
harder than you
imagined it.

messages

you left a note
this morning,
signed it with a dash.
can you see
with those lovely
eyes of yours?
or are they just
there for allure?
i'm just here for
the exposure, really…
expose my body to all
the secrets locked up
inside your darkness.
once this time's
end draws upon us
like a curtain,
i'll make sure
you are warned.
you-- with the
fairy touch.
kiss me here,
and hurt me there;
i must find a place to
run and hide - the
tidal sadness comes
without warning.
some can sense...
but you and i,
we seem to let
our senses fail us.
